The Tunze group buy thread

As stated in an earlier thread I am working on a Tunze group buy. I talked to Manfred at Natural Life Aquarium in Sunnyvale and he is willing to offer the Tunze products at cost to BAR members. He has gotten a great response from sponsoring the club and would like to help the members out with this deal (his words not mine). Tunze sends their distibutors a retail price list and they get a 25% discount or more based on how much they buy. From what I gathered there won't be any way to get more than 25% because the minimum for the next level discount is very high. Anyway, 25% off is still a great deal. To know what your cost will be just go on marine depot or any other R.C. sponsor and take 25% off of their price. That is what you will pay. There might be shipping costs but that will have to be figured out later.

Just so everyone know ahead of time, Tunze tends to be a little slow. They are usually back ordered and it might take some time to get everything. They might have to ship in stages. I will be handling most of this for Manfred. I will not be able to take paypal because they charge me for every transaction. It is easiest if people pay in cash or check. Cash is easier because checks have to clear before we can order. Just post here with what you want and I will contact you with all other information.

Please don't P.M. me. My box fills up very fast and I will get like ten people a day telling me to clean it out. Even when I post this people still P.M. me. Please don't be that person.

Feel free to ask question here.

I would like to thank Manfred for his support of our club. Also he has some nice rarities in clean tanks. That's all I need!-Jim

Question. What Tunze setup do you guys think would be best for my 60 gallon(how many pumps, what type/size/model, other accessories) I plan on only keeping my Seio 620 in the tank and replacing the other powerheads I have with the Tunze.

Thaks for the input

Mark

Well then....I would like to get the two largest pumps ( don't recall the #'s) and two of the mag holders.thanks !

I have the same question like Mark. Except my is 100G 48"x24"x20" .
Thanks Matt and Manfred for setting this up ..

I bet you're right, but I just bought it and I feel I would have wasted money. It probably will be put in the garage after the tunzes arrive.

teachermark,
that's a hard question to answer. It depends on what you are planning to keep in the tank (SPS vs. LPS) and how much you want to spend. If it was my tank I would go with either one or two stream 6000s with either the single controller or the mulit if you get the two pumps. Then again I keep lots of SPS. If you are keeping mostly LPS you might want to get just the 6060s. No doubt you will have no need for your seios if you get streams. They will seem like they aren't doing anything once you see what tunzes can do.

Elite,
Same problem. If it was my tank I would go with two 6100s on a multi.

teachermark: Tunze's in your 60g would be crazy. I had 2 6060's in my 5' 125g tank and it was a sand storm, not to mention all the corals blowing over that weren't secured down. I had to get rid off one. And add a seio 1500, not much less GPH but at least it's not as crazy. One would probably still be too to much in that size tank. My cousin has a seio 1500 in his 60g and he has it turned down. Just my opinion though

I think this thread is for orders ...not the pros and cons. But since you mentioned it...I did not know seio had pumps that were adjustable, the tunzes are if you get the pump(s) that run on the multicontroler and you can adjust them up just until "the sand storm".For your tank IF you can spare the cash is to buy the multi controler with 1 of the smaller adjustable pumps and just set it down. And when you upgrade tanks you can just add pumps to the system. And remember that Discount is pretty good...Just my 2 cents

Yes you can control the flow on the SEIOs on the pump itself.....

I'm thinking about getting the Turbelle Stream Kit TS21 (6000)... 6100 is a little bit too much for me ($$$ not flow :D )

How soon do we need to get back to you Matt??

Matt:
Put me down for the (2) 6000 with multi controller kit + Mag holders.

Doesn't paypal only charge you if you use a credit card???

I'm in, but I have to decide what to get. I'd like to pay via paypal, and will be willing to pay the 3% fee they charge you. CC payments are easier for me than cash right now. Is that ok?

teachermark, I would probably go with one or two 6060s. I don't think you will need more than that and just so people know, they can be adjusted down without a controller. I don't think they would be too much flow. If you ever go diving and see corals in on the reefs you will see how much flow they are used to and we will never match that in our tanks. There is no such thing as too much flow. Just misdirected flow. (Yes I did mean to post that here:D )

Seios can be adjusted but only by turning the intake and closing off the holes. Then the holes are so small that the least amount of coraline cloggs them. Tunzes can be turned down electronically.

Jero I agree with you. If money wasn't the issue I would get the single 6000 and a multi. That's assuming Mark might get a bigger tank later on.

I was thinking about making the deadline a couple of weeks from now. If a few people need a week more than that we can put it off to three weeks.

I have a business account set up with paypal because I own my own business. They charge me for any transaction. I think it is 3% but I still prefer to not get paid with paypal because if my business gets audited I will have to account for the extra money and I won't have receipts for the write off. If you can only pay that way I will do it. Again I prefer cash. Even checks will have to be put in my account and I will have to explain that to the IRS if they come knocking.

I will be doubling my tank size in a year or so, so I think the single 6000 and the multi sounds good to me in case I want to add another 6000 in the distant future. I don't want to sound too much like a newb, but is that all I will need for this little setup(do I need mag holders or anything else like that)?

Thanks a million everyone

Mark
