The Tunze group buy thread

Just my 2 cents: I just went to Tunze a few months ago. I originally bought 1 6000 w/ a multicontroller (in case of an upgrade). One 6000 didn't end up being enough flow for me. Now I have 2 6000s, and I'm pretty sure I could add one more without any problem. I have a standard sized 90G mixed reef with a 4" southdown sandbed and no problems with sand blowing around. (Might depend on the positioning of the Tunzes and your rockwork.)

I have one on a magnet and one not. IME you need a magnet if you plan to put the pump a bit lower in the tank since the included hanger has a finite length OR if you have a canopy and plan to mount the pump on one of the sidewalls. The magnets therefore provide for more versatile placement.

Al, just curious - how much would a Tunze stream Kit cost with the group buy? Also if I get an extra stream 6000, to get random water flow, with the order - how much extra would that cost as well?

Is the 6000 good enough for a 65 gallon tank and would it be enough as well for a future 120g tank?

I had similar questions, they are answered above. Remember, everything is around 25% off the marine depot price.

I bought the Tunze stream Kit with 6100's and will never look back. Once you've had your fill of trouble with all the rest, Tunze's price doesn't seem so high anymore.

O.K. I took the prices off of the marinedepot site and took 25% off. Here is what I got for the most popular items.

Stream 6060-$102.90
Stream 6080-$149.67
Stream 6000-$194.97
Stream 6100-$249.70
Stream 6200-$338.58
Singlecontroller-$44.28
Multicontroller-$164.01
Small magnet holders-$27.00
Large magnet holders-$38.74
Wavebox-$378.27

Now everyone should be able to figure out their totals pretty easy. I understand that a lot of people don't know exactly what components they need so feel free to ask here. I'll try to simplify it. The 6060 and the 6080 are not able to go on a controller but they do have a screw hole that can turn them down or up.
The 6000, 6100, and 6200 can all go on either controller. If you are only going to have one pump you can get the singlecontroller. If you are going to have up to four pumps you will need the multicontroller. If you want more than four you will need the multicontroller and a branch adaptor or mutiple controllers. I have never used the wavebox so I can't comment on it. Most people get the magnets to hold the stream pumps. They are WAY more reliable than suction cups and you don't have to have plastic clips and brackets on your tank. Plus they allow you to put the pumps more places than clips will.

We will not be shipping these pumps. Sorry. It's just too much to deal with and everyone on R.C. will then want to get in on this buy.

It looks like there is less interest than on the previous thread so I think we should open it up to MARS and SEABAY. If someone from MARS and SEABAY sees this please make sure your members know about it. The one issue is that I think Manfred is hoping to get people to go in to his store so everyone might have to pick their order up from him in person.

When you are ready to pay please post here so I can work that out with you.
Thanks.

I'm in. I need to finalize my order, but it will probably be at least:

1x6000
1xSmall magnet holder
1xSingle Controller (maybe a multi if I can justify it to myself)

Eight,For the extra 120 you get the option to expand your system in the future. If I hadn't I'd have to buy another one now, instead of just adding pumps.

P.M.s sent to;
Elite, 73ChargerFan, teachermark, dmirza, Eight, and Magma01. Quiv your P.M. box is full.
To-Arbitrate, please let me know if you are interested.
dantodd, what the heck is a baby stream?

I was thinking about making the deadline a couple of weeks from now. If a few people need a week more than that we can put it off to three weeks.

Same question as Elite, if the small magnet holds the 6000, i'll take that, if not i'll go with the large mag. To clarify, I'm in for the 6000, multi-controller, and mag holder.

Greatly appreciated

Mark

It doesn't depend on the pump, it depends on your tank. From the MD website:

"The magnetic holder permits uncomplicated mounting of components at any position on the aquarium pane; encapsulated construction; requires seconds only for attachment; two models for glass thickness of up to 0.47" (12mm) and up to 0.74" (19mm)."
