thanks, there are plenty of things up there at home depot that would work just fine, you just have to be creative.....

but i got a lot of ideas for this hobby and hopefully i'll be able to share them all with everyone, i just posted up a thread on my homemade mini skimmer if you want to go check it out....

That looks awsome. Nice work, and looks original. I though I did good on findin cheap ways but you got me beat by a mile.

That is definitely not a MH light, looks to be quartz halogen the give away was when he stated a friend was going to use it to light a back yard, I have never seen even a 6500k bulb burn that yellow, let alone him stating a 20 bulb which would be very blue the fixture looks to be DE and they do not make a 175w DE only Mogul

Other than that nice set up

I like that style; I used a 4 inch pvc pipe to make my overflows in my 5.5. If I only was better with the silicone it would look as good as a $50 box...

Looks like a regular "factory" overflow. What do you have inside it? Are there 2 powerheads?

there is only one powerhead, its a pond pump rated at 365 GPH
its split into two heads so its dramatically less than that, i have a heater and a protein skimmer back there too...

HaHAHAHHAHA, actually everyone wised up and put up metal boxes instead of plastic ones.... too sad...... HAHAHAHAHAH

and thanks for the compliments fellers....
Back in my early teens, my friends and I used to smash mailboxes all the time (I know, we were hooligans...:smokin: ) Of course, we were smart about it and did it on the same street, every week. (:rolleye1: )

A friend of mine spent MONTHS in woodshop class at school constructing a very nice hardwood "mailbox paddle" with a comfort grip handle, and he even handpainted a Grateful Dead skull on it (and did a REALLY nice job too!) He finished it with clear coat after and everything, truly a work of art....

When it was done, we took it out one night, and he let me do the honors...

now I knew he worked VERY hard on it, so I wanted to make him proud and really waste this mailbox...

I gave it everything I had, and the second it hit the mailbox... the paddle shattered into a million pieces, my hand felt like it did the same... and the mailbox?

Perfectly fine.

I opened it up...

This guy had gotten sick of replacing his mailbox... so he bought 2, a big one and a small one. He put the small one inside the big one, and then FILLED IN THE GAP WITH CONCRETE!

That was the last mailbox I ever hit.

Great idea white trash! It looks great why buy 1 when you can do just as good yourself...for a lot less sheckles.....give it a little time & coralline algae and no one will know you did it yourself! Keep the good ideas coming!!
