The wonderful X-Terminator Mantis Trap!

So I spent the $16 on this mantis trap(just got it today), I baited it, put it in my tank with high hopes and what'd I catch? 9 hermits and a snail....

I have it baited with mysis shrimp and have the sensitivity fairly high...any ideas on how to go about attempting to catch this mantis? Or is the weather going to be mostly cloudy with chance of hermits?

I have a feeling it's going to be a hit and miss thing.


Anyone else have sucess in catching a mantis without tearing the tank apart?

I had the same luck. All I catch are hermits, pepermints, and snails. I think my problem is my tank is too small to locate the trap in a way that is accessible to the mantis.I dont think it will go down a 80/90degree slope to get the bait. It seems too smart. I will try to remove all my rock and get out myself.

well in time the mantis will eat all the hermits and snails so then you will catch it....

I ended up getting the trap off of Ebay. I tried several times and caught nothing but the hermits and snails I put into the tank. I think on my last attempt I ended up with 16 some bumblebee snails in it before the door finally shut. I do believe there's a mantis in my tank, though I'm not going to go to the extreme of pulling out all the rock, I have too many zoos and other corals glued to the rocks.

I got a trap but haven't tried it yet. I'm on vacation next week so I'll have plenty of time to catch the little demon.

Well my tank is only a 10, so it was easy to pull the rock. I got the little @%$@%#.

Mines a 240. There's no way I'm pulling out the rock. I'd rather wait for him to die of old age.
