Look guys, I've mentioned previously that Ray has special needs and it's OK with him that I discuss it with any one privately.
I think I need to explain the term Japanese in a better way. I get corals about 2-3 time a week and it's like Xmas opening every bag. I get very excited and I sometimes like to share my enthusiasm when I describe the coral. I call them ATOMIC and SCREAMING etc. The term Japanese is nothing but another marketing tool is used to describe corals and it's NOT related to geography as some of you think.
As you might know that Japanese are known for having the most expansive art collection in the world and they pay the highest in auctions. I recall when I was in the freshwater fish business (about 20 years ago), I used to sell pond fish called koi. Some of them are called Japanese koi and some are bred in Japan and all over the world, but they still call them Japanese. Why? it's just a reference to the beauty and the well known fact that some of these fish go in the HUNDRED OF THOUSAND OF $$ in that area .... Is it a scam? Off course not and it's nothing but a metaphor.
Also, I see a lot of silly names for corals that people call like: Galaxy, Alien and even O.J. Simpson

... Is that a SCAM ?? Are corals coming from other Galaxy ?? OR are Aliens really exits? I can't come up with the O.J. Simpsen connection, please can someone explain it to me !!
When I listed Acanthastrea maxima and described it as Japanese, I even listed ALL the similar species, their pictures and LOCATION according to Veron's book and website. Scam and deception was not my intention.
Happy reefing,
Adam
