About a year ago, I purchased a male McCosker's Wrasse (see avatar). When I learned that the males can lose color if there isn't a female present I ordered two juveniles from a LFS. Put the girls into quarantine and realized that I was going to have to have a male in there to keep them ladies, so I bought a surplus male. One of the females jumped through 1/4 inch mesh. Down to two, one of which was exhibiting signs of Ich. Started copper treatment and near the end of the QT period the male died. The remaining female made it through quarantine and settled right into the Display where she has been doing well for about six months. Yesterday my husband found her on the floor, which means either that this fully grown fish jumped through a full 1/4" mesh cover or jumped when I fed them in the morning and I didn't notice. The new bachelor will have to stay single. I don't feel like going through all that again. Sometimes this hobby tries our patience, doesn't it?
