i have a trio of sexies in my two-month old 8g biocube that have decided to eat my zoas and yellow polyps! i don't know what to do, they're devouring them!
sexy shrimp are supposed to be 100% reefsafe, right? this shouldn't happen!

i started two days ago target feeding the sexies frozen mysid which they enjoy, but they need to be fed several times a day to keep them from touching the polyps.

what's going on? can i do anything to put more food sources in the tank/discourage them from eating polyps/??

HELP! :eek2:

I had similar issues in a 6 gallon nano i have set up for my inlaws... but it wasnt them eating the corals it was them walking on them and keeping them constantly closed and not allowing them to feed that was killing them off.... but on the other hand i have have personally sat and watch one tank with sexies in it as they chowed down on blastos

I would have no doubt that they ate the corals. I lost ~$500 in coral before I realized that it was the sexies eating them. An Aussie Acan colony, a nice blue acro, zoas, etc... I would get rid of the immediately and encourage people not to keep them ever

No, they are not reef safe 100%. Not sure many things truly are 100% reefsafe as they all have to eat something on the reef!!

wow I wanted some in my tank but maybe now I do not I have some aussie acans and blastos.

I have a cleaner shrimp is there any other shrimp I could get that would be good or is 1 enough.

I have 5 astr snails and 5 scarlet hermits 2 clowns and a golby in a 12 gallon with 10 chuncks of coral.

Where your corals or sexy shrimp introduced to the tank recently?
I just bought a frogspawn, and my peppermint did the same thing, eating away at the tentcales but doesn't do it anymore. Could your shrimp just have been investigating? Thats what mine were doing. And I keep mine more than well fed. I agree with Dtip and lhoy, not all crabs and shrimp are reef safe.

Have the shrimp eaten any more leahski? Or have they stopped?

Good luck with them.
