Thick branch, nubby, acropora thread!

Ok so I have been collecting this type of coral for a little while now. I know they are harder to keep, harder to keep good color on, and so on... But why on earth do I never see any pics of people's colonies after they have been in their system for a good amount of time? Like large colonies, that have actually went through the color change and grown to adapt to tank conditions?
I want to see some people's pics! I don't care if its brown, white or whatever, just want to see some colonies! I love these types of corals and would also love to have discussions on the best way people have found to keep them. I know, high flow, high light... Lets get a little more into it than that if possible. There is a thread on another forum that's been going on for a bit, but I have yet to see anyone's pictures that resemble something thats adapted to their tank, and grown! But don't let that stop you from posting pictures or discussing your experiences please.
Come on guys with all the maricultures of this stuff i have seen, this thread should not float to the bottom. I know some are harder to keep than others, so which is it for you? If you are having luck with them lets hear about your system and tank husbandry.
I myself have been having good luck with some humilus and similar stuff that were frags cut off maricultures. They seemed to color up and start growing much faster and easier than the actual mariculture/wild colonies of the same subspecies.

Heres an old pic of my gemmifera. I had it for a year before I lost it in a move. It was sitting at the top and about 8" in front of an mp40 on reef crest @ 100%

Also, this acro is at the top of the tank. Not really thick branches except on the left side where it has grown into the path of the MP10.

Acronic, thank you! First image of a grown out reef cresty (if thats the right term for these corals i am talking about) coral I have seen! And also one of the last on my list to still acquire . Was there any certain care you used that you think helped this coral grow well?

Figisrfr, Millie's aren't really what I am looking for unless they are spathulatas! I love thoes things but cant afford them. only have one brown aussie piece that was in the cheap order. Neither is the other pic but that is cool how its affected by the flow so much!

I will have to get some pictures of my newly acquired stuff and pics of the couple I have had for a number of months. Then maybe we can get this thread going.

i also like thick acro, until recently i didn't have sucess with them. I guess it was the time my tank get more mature. I also add a lot of flow.

Here is a wild aussi piece i got 3 months ago and it is starting to grow and to color up nice.

first pics here is a wild humilis that i got 4 months ago, it is also from australia. The color is not what i would like but it is growing faster then i was expecting. It has a wp 40 1 1/2 feet away pointed directly at it.

The second is a spathulata, i have for more then a year, moved it a couple of time and now it is starting to grow and to color.

the last of my ''Tick collection '' is a abrotanoid. I got it 3 weeks ago. it spent 10 days in the bottom of the tank. I usually do 14 days for led acclimatation but it already was under leds at the store. It as been at is final position since a week and seems to do fine. I was surprise it didn't loose its color.

Thanks Piper. It's an Acropora gemmifera that I've been growing for about 3 years from a small frag. I call it the bananaberry. Here's a pic of the whole thing, the polyps were retracted from fragging.

If you'd like to see a giant, fully grown reef crest acro, here's an old pic of the humilis that was growing in the PSU HUB public aquarium around the time when I was there helping with it. Just above and to the left of the clownfish. About 18" x 26" when I took the pic.

Tooth man, how long have you had that abro? Looks like its got great color! And seems to have already changed to the "tank" color and started growing. Beautiful, I love abros!

Thank you for the other pic, thsts the most beautiful colony pic I have seen! So uniform, like it was pulled right off the reef. Do you have any info on how that specific aquarium is set up? Light, flow, filters?
