Not sure what it is. Supposed to be blue once it colors up. The frag in the background is an icefire echinata if that helps with relative size.

Thanks, Jamie. I'm considering dissolving a piece and looking at it under the microscope for ID'ing. Think it's worth a shot?

P.S. You don't happen to own one of those in your avatar do you?
 
Eric, I would wait until your piece is well established before I take any skeleton samples. Looking at the base I see white skeleton which means it needs to build itself a base. Fooling around with it too much may kill it!

The picture was taken by a good friend of mine on the reef in Papua. He, also, got a few nice shots of H. denise on a different gorgonian. These critters are the size of your fingernail!
 
That's part of the STN that occurred in the tank where it came from. I have another piece that I snapped off which still has partial tissue on it that I can use versus any tissue on that piece.

Those tiny little things are too cool. If only they were more available and easier to keep...
