we just got back a few months ago....best snorkeling was the south shore near the sprouting horn. Not at the sporting horn bit on the drive to it. You will see all the people right off the beach. Oh eat at Brenicks int he same area. You will find good food is hard to find and you will pay through the nose. We ate at bubbas about 5 times for the 12 days we stayed, cheapest best food we could find.
If you do decide to dive i got certified at kaui seport divers best experience ever. i loved it. You can get certified in 3 days with all your dives in. But pricy but the whole island is expensive.
BTW you will get a better deal if you stay at B and B rather than hotels if you are not locked in yet. No mater what you have to walk through the hyatt on the soth shore...it's amazing, best hotel i have ever seen.
Oh we did the wiama falls hike on the north shore, it is 8 miles! not that easy just an FYI. you will have to roc jump, wade across some areas and the trail is not that clear but there are other ppl. the view at the end is amazing. It was in Jurassic park.
If you have the money do a helicopter tour with open doors....crazing expensive but it's a once in a lifetime. also the Napoli cost dinner or sunset cruz is pretty cool, we did not go but i heard it was really good. Don't go if you get sea sick. I heard the smaller boats can rock a bit on the way out.
Oh, go to banana Joes smoothies near north shore, off the side of the road. buy a banana-apple. they are pretty good.
lets see what else....oh i heard the fern grotto is not worth checking out. It's not free, $25 a person and i heard it got a bad bug and a lot of it is gone now.
Bring hiking shoes, if you like to hike tons of places to go.
Wiamaa canyon is amazing! grand canyon in the middle of paradise. bring the best camera you have.
eat coconuts....watch for chickens they are all over!
Oh, the brick oven pizza place was pretty good in south shore, all you can eat was like 12 or 15 bucks.
Oh the coffee place...crap I can't remember…something coffee company… the exact name but it was really good....we went almost every morning wne we stayed 1/2 way between south and north shore...kind of east shore. it is kinda hidden near a craft fair that is there year round. There is a zin garden and a small koi pond. nice place to sit and enjoy.
the sunsets on the south side are amazing, bring some snacks and drinks to wiamam canyon time it to where the sunset is on the drive down, picture perfect of the "forbidden island" off the cost. We pulled over and watched the sunset.
bring lots of sunscreen and some bug spray.
Oh, go to "the fish market" that is the name of the restraunt near nort shore, pretty good, didn't look like much from the outside. Stop byt the lighthouse look out.
Just an opinion, i didn't like princeville...overpriced and for ppl with the nose in the air. If you like golf it's nice but not much to see except overpriced resort. not much night life anywhere, i liked to just relax and we watched some good movies at night.
well just relax and have a good time.
