Think I just got the OK to upgrade......

Great to see you back!!! WOW you have alge...lol!! Thats not good.. Been waiting for the invite buddy.. JLMK

If Cubbies is good, I might bring him also ;)

Yea, it's been a bit of a pain in the *** to be honest, I didn't prepare enough when I started, and just need a bigger setup. That's all... Plus, my Wife gets part of her kitchen back, and I get a 150 gallon tank..

Just got the email, 150 is done, and will be picking it up sometime this week... So a new shiny build thread will start... I already have a buyer for my cube and the setup, so really, it will be budget neutral!

Dre, I will need your expertise in fragging, etc and if you want to help on the day of, I got beer, and you can take whatever frags you want from the tank. Cubbies is cool man, I'm down. Anyone who wants to help in the process is all good with me. I might need some plumbing help actually, so really that will be the meat of it. I am NOT a plumber and want to do this one RIGHT since this tank will be here a long while..... let me know if anyone here wants to help get some plumbing done :-)

More information to come soon, but it's STARTING!

You still have the same number?

Yea, I'm going to check out the tank today at 6PM, and hoping to either buy it and move it today, or the very least pick up the stand. My Wife wants to paint the stand black instead of the woodish color it is now... So we can get that done before the weekend. Come the weekend, we can do some basics done (planning plumbing, measuring for a sump, buying parts), etc.... Next week or so I will pick up a RO\DI system and start getting that down as well as salt.. I've never mixed my own salt before, so it should be a good time learning.

It's going to be a LOT of fun.. I can't wait for this whole process.. Slow and steady, but we're going to do it all right.

I think my wife has lost her mind... She told me to get a "need" list going and a "want" list...... The want list she said will probably including new LEDs... AI Sol or Radions.... Is she insane?!~?! :-) I like it..

perhaps she won the lottery and is going to keep you and your fish up for the rest of your lives......

Grats anyways.

My wife agreed to a 180 when she was distressed .....i bought it ofcourse!~... then told me i could be burried in it if i brought it in the house. Whack!

haha... well a lot of the funding is from selling my existing 60 cube setup and everything that goes with it, LEDs, Vortechs (possibly), etc, etc to finance this... Crazily enough, it will cover a great deal of the cost... Now looking at the AI Sols, or Radions, it might be a little crazy..

I am curious if my current LEDs will cover the tank, with a nice PAR light in the middle of something. We'll see... The Radions are on the want list, and certainly not a for sure... I wish though. lol

A 150 basically in trade for a 60 cube, nice! Is that 72x24x24 then? I may be available to assist if you need some help also.

I need to recruit some help to bring this bad boy into my house. I'm going to pick up the stand tonight, but the tank will be sometime this week, no later than Saturday. I will for sure need some help on that. Let me know if you are around, and if you can help. I've got beer in the fridge :-) I'll get my brother to help as well but thinking we'll need 2-4 people for this. It's a monster apparently.

I am available in the evenings, and have a Grandcherokee if needed. Let me know the day and I'll see if it works. Supposed to be nice weather this week too.

Sweet! I should be able to get the tank and everything into my Forester, it's just lifting it and getting it into the house will take some help. I'll PM you and get your number. I appreciate it!!

OK, so just an update... I just picked up the stand and got it in the house.. on the way home I thought about the weight of this tank, and the fact it is sitting on my main floor (albeit sitting on the steel cross beam)... We have a neighbor who works for the builder (Pulte) and I just called him when I pulled in with the stand.. I explained the situation and he said "no.. not just no, hell no".....

I went to my Wife and said, it's the basement, or it's going on RC to resell... She saw the stand and well, it's now in the basement (where I have always envisioned my monster tank anyways)....

Long story short, the stand is HOME! The tank is HEAVY and will need some help.. Pool Shark, if your'e around Thursday night, maybe I can snag you for a little bit... carrying it into the basement will be the fun stuff..

Anyways, if anyone in the area wants to help Thursday or Friday night, let me know..

Now I'm getting excited..... it's all coming together.

Hey, you still interested in selling the cube tank? I downgraded from my 120g, I want to get the marineland 60g cube drilled.. i might have some stuff left over from my 120g that you could use too. I have tons of dry rock leftover that I didn't use, and have a mag drive 18, and brs duel reactor to name a few

Hey, I just got a real quick offer yesterday to buy my tank, and everything else along with it (sump, skimmer, return, vortechs, etc)... It works out for me because, I need MP40s not MP10s, I need a new skimmer, new sump, new return, everything.....

I'll let you know if it falls through but appreciate the interest! It will be happening within the next month or month and a half, so keep your ears open.

will do, good luck. do you remember how much you paid for the original setup new and where you purchased it?

Congrats, that is awesome. You may want to look into borrowing/renting a couple sets of the heavy duty suction cups. They make the job easier/safer. I rented them from the local rent-all place.

That's not a bad idea.. Wonder how those will hold up going downward into the basement... Good thing is, it's a straight shot down, literally no turns, just down the stairs.

Just an update.... With of help of the "forearm forklifts" a rug, and raw strength (I'm dead today).... the tank and canopy are both in the basement. Here is a picture of the stand, tank and canopy..

I'm picking up my sump on Saturday morning, and hopefully Saturday we can get some basic plumbing done. Props to Dre for help bouncing ideas off of him, and help with plumbing.
