Not to post anything different..........but if it doesn't smell like vinegar........don't use that silicone.
You will be fine for a few days, get the heaters into the display, keep good water movement in the tank, try to get some rippling on the surface. If you don't have access to borrow a HOB skimmer drop some airstones on a pump in. Just use check valves or keep the air pump above the waterline of the tank in case it gets unplugged or power goes out.

I thought the tank was stocked! Even if it's empty I would still keep the water aerated and moving.
Theres no need for heaters or powerheads if there is nothing in the tank but water. Yes, you should be fine to leave the water in the tank.
