Thinking about getting a multibar angel

Todd I agree, I just felt that we shouldn't discus if a 90 was the proper size tank for the fish in the thread. I am pretty sure James knows that he shouldn't keep the tang in there long term. I guess it should be noted that these are shy fish and part of the difficulty in feeding them has to do with the aquarium and tankmates you acclimate/QT them with.

Wow what a coincidence. I have had my multi barred for 4ish months. He has not eaten a single thing I have fed yet. Frozen, live, prepared, nothing. I noticed lately he would pec along the back of the tank at the surface after i fed the other fish.

So I started to put some pellet on the surface and tonight for the first time He actually ate some. I am hoping now I can train him this way to eat more of the foods I feed.

I wonder what it is about the surface.

Yeah i dont understand it as there a deeper water fish so there would be no surface for them to pick food from. but as long as it works they who cares.

okay so here she is. Im good friends with the guys at the local fish store as i did their website and built/admin the local club site. so they've mediated her and had her in a hospital tank for a few days for me. she seems to peck at food they've put in, (a mixture of rod's, selcon and various frozen entrees) but not an agressive eater. i dont think she'll last long term in a little tank so Im gonna add her directly to the main display becuase there's lots of sponge, featherdusters, pods, junk corals etc to keep her fat and happy. Ive been feeding the fish in the display out of a fish trap for the last couple days so if we have any aggression problems the offender can be removed.

as for the vlamingi, he is small, and i got him as a 1" a charity case from a local reefer.(hes only about an inch longer than the angel now) If you think small specimins are stressed by a ninety, you have no experience with this fish. I was able to hand feed mine after just a few weeks. they do grow quick, so i have a larger tank in storage for him to go to if need be. (he's tripled in size in 6 mo.) Plus, i have several freinds with extremely large tanks that would be more than happy to take him if/when he grows that big.

thanks for the help and shared experience to those who posted useful information. i will keep you updated.

That angel is (and I hesitate to say this, it isn't my style for sure) DARLING! That is just too cute! So it was eating in the LFS?

we fed it when i was at the store before putting it on hold to get my tank ready, he did get excited and pick at the stuff but he spit most out.

he's now in my tank and seems happy so far. no signs of aggression at this point.

definitely a little picker, ive seen him picking at a patch of blue cloves multiple times.
fed rods and mysis to the tank twice today. he came out and got excited but i couldnt tell if he ate, because he darted in and out of the rocks too quick.

If she's interested at all in frozen food, start her on bloodworms and brine shrimp (she probably won't be able to help herself from picking at those), then start adding/increasing the proportion of mini mysis to the other foods. If she's not into the frozen stuff, give the live blackworms a shot.
