Thinking about getting clown fish

Hello,

Well last week something happend in my tank and it caused everything to die. So im gonna clean out the tank and get it running again. When i finally get my tank up and running again I wanted to get some percula clown fish. So my question is if I buy a small one and one thats a bit bigger will i have a good chance of getting them to pair? Or would it be easier to buy clowns that are already paired up? Also i had a clown and an anemone but they never did anything, someone told me i got the wrong anemone, so which type of anemone do percula clowns live in?

It doesnt matter the size of the clowns you get..... cause they will actually fight a little (not to the death) to figure out who will be the male and female.
Some places will sell paired clowns for more than if you just buy two.

Most common anemone are LTA (Long Tentacle Anemone) or a Bubble Tip Anemone.

Sometimes the clown will take his/her time on choosing a host. I dont have any anemones but I do have corals. My clown took about 5 months to start hosting in my corals. Just be patient.... it will happen.

Actually if you get bigger clowns, chances are they could already be female.
Buying a very small clown pretty much gaurantee's being male, which will become female unless you have a larger female that keeps it in check.
Buying a pair is nice if you can.
Start slowly though, and know that your tank won't be ready for a nem for at the very least 6mo. and really should be 9mo to a year.
They need really good params, and a decent size tank as they can get big.
On reefdiscusion page there is a thread, "anemones, everything you need to know"
You should read that, it also shows which nems host which clowns

Correction;
*host anemones; all you ever wanted to know
