Thinking about getting out of the hobby

Hi,

Like the subject states, I am considering getting out of the hobby, for awhile... However, I do not want to lose too much.

That being said, I have a Oceanic RR 120, purchased from Fins of Franklin. It has been up & running for about 1.5 years. It is packed with about 150-180 lbs of Marshall Island live rock (and Manono from about 7 years ago). I have 4 fish: pair of mated Ocellaris clowns(spawning and laying eggs about every 2-3 months), a mystery wrasse, and a spotted Mandarin. I have 4 Rose BTA's, numerous show sized pieces of zoanthids, show sized frogspawns, a huge lime-green hydnophora, and more. My lighting consists of 2 250w mogul halides(Radium bulbs on a Galaxy electronic ballasts) and 2 54w T5's. Circulation is driven by a Dolphin ampmaster 3000, and I am running a MR2 skimmer driven by Blueline pump.
I would love to sell it as a complete system, but am willing to part out. If I do part it out, I will have to sell all livestock first, to ensure the health of the animals. Then I will sell the equipment.
I literally have thousands of dollars invested in this system, not to mention blood, sweat, and tears. I would like to get $2500 for everything, but as I said before, will sell pieces individually.
I would appreciate any input, aid, and recommendations.

Thanks,
Dave H

I would like your metallic green frogspawn and a rose anenome. I checked out your gallery and saw very little. Could you post or PM me pictures. Interested in rock, sand, zoa's and any special LPS.

Thanks B

I'm interested in the Mystery Wrasse and the Spotted Mandarin. What are your prices? What equipments do you have? I do know someone who wants a 120 so I'll let him know your post.

if this Is the same guy I got my Rbta from about 8 months ago I. Will say its one of the nicest 120s I've ever seen. The tank was a beaut in person. Ryan & myself got our rbta from him. I'll take the mystery wrasse & the magnet btw.

I am very interested in an RBTA and the spotted if that falls through and especially and zoo colonies you might have..also you have any scolymia and cyanira?

pics?

pics?

I am working on a price list. Here is an attempt at adding a pic. If it works, there will be more.

I am interested in that hydnophora piece and that purple looking brain in the front and the meat coral ..i think that is what it is...sclomyia..or whatever

I am trying to focus on my 2 children, ages 4 and 1. I have been a hobbyist for 10+ years. Some of the specimens you see in these pics are at least 7+ years old. I love the hobby and always will. One day I intend to teach what I have learned to my 1 year old son, and only hope that he will love it as I have.
As for now, I am trying to free-up some money and time to focus on my kids.

Add me a RBTA to my list please! Give me some specifications of your skimmer please! Thanks!!!

ps. Kids do take a lot of your time to focus on your tank right now especially at their age. Bet they are precious.... :)

good luck with this endeavor...sounds like you will be back in the future at some point..the only thing more expensive than reefing is probably kids so we can all see you perspective...anyways put some prices up soon and those of us can get the livestock...

Pictures!!!
You had asked earlier for comments recommendations. Posting on a forum like this you've probably only got an audience of DIYers and people with established tanks, so it is extremely unlikely to sell your tank as a whole.

I would recommend keeping your tank and important equipment if you have space for storage. Your initial setup costs in the future will be limited to the live stuff. You have a great setup and the only reason I would sell my major equipment, if I knew I was going to start again in the future, would be knowing I was definitely going bigger! Bigger display, bigger sump... I would still keep my MH's (sell the bulbs) if they are still somewhat new.

You did say that you have been in the hobby for many years. If you think you have gotten your money's worth from your equipment then sell all. Just my thoughts:)

One more comment.. just out of respect for the forum and MTRC members please, if you part out, sell on a first come first serve basis as people have posted. later:cool:

Isn't that the truth.....A lot of people don't do that on here like some of the posters on this very forum and when they message me, I ignored it because of it. It's not right to turn around and try to sell it to someone else when you promised it to someone already. Should give them certain time limit to respond and pick up. I would admit sometime I would forget things, but I work 7 days a week70+ hrs. But a quick PM notice would catch my eye. That's when I decided to get a PDA phone so I can keep reminder notes....
