Thinking about overhauling my tank

I'm thinking about overhauling my tank... redoing all the plumbing/circulation, scraping most/all the old rock that has pockets of fast-spreading zoas and mushrooms, setting up a fuge, getting rid of a lot of my frags, etc.

My primary question is what should I do with all the old rock/frags? Some of the frags people might be interested in, but some of them are the common beginner stuff that is so prevalent around here.

Thoughts?

I'd post the frags, some may go, and try to trade the rest in (also check into city zoo in Elmira or ABC in syracuse).

I've gotten a bunch of PMs asking about what Im doing and what I'm getting rid of.

Let me think more seriously about when Im going to pull the trigger on all this and Ill post a for sale/trade thread.

Thanks for all the interest... This could be a whole lot easier than I was anticipating.

Same basic direction, but with a bit more planning. My tank started out as a fairly low budget/low tech tank primarily for my kids. It's turned into a pile of rocks with frags stuck in every nook and a monstrosity of wires, PVC, and timers.

The plan is to drain it, drill it, and replumb it. Currently I'm running a 10g sump - all my flow comes from teh return pump, and my skimmer and all hardware sits there. I'm going to run a closed loop for flow, and turn the sump into more of a dedicated fuge. Then I just need to clean up my wiring/powerstrips/timers so there isn't such a rat's nest in such close proximity to all that water. I've already fried 2 outlets from water drips.

I want to get away from the mass of miscellaneous rock and frags and do something a bit more planned - a few choice pieces of rock and a handful of my favorite corals, then let everything grow out. Probably going with a few LPS, a few carefully selected SPS, and some nice zoas. Maybe a clam or 2 depending on how things work out.

When your ready to do some restocking lmk i have some pretty high quality zoas and palys. I will also have a tyree bgm chalice frag available at some point too

Hi there,

I'm interested in beginner stuff! I'm not doing too well with putting a lot of time in, and some of the more difficult things I purchased are perishing or dead. I want to move to easier stuff so as not to give up the hobby entirely. lmk! Thanks:)
