Thinking about starting a sea horse tank

I have been thinking about it for some time and Im wondering if you can do a pair in a 10 gallon tank or is that too small?

to small .29g is recommended. you can do a bunch of dwarfs in a ten but then you need a constant supply of live bbs. was there a species you were thinking of

Not particularly. Im just begining to research. Is there a book you reccomend?

also look up one of Rajays posts he usually includes a link to a lot of good info. I like sand in my tanks he does not pros and con to each . thats a personal choice.

oh and dontget intimidated by them. buy from a good source that sells captive bred horses eating frozen food. that makes all the difference in the word . my 1st pr were tiny and i believe wild caught they did not last at all. 2cnd pr came from ora and are tank bred. much easier the rest comes down to good tank mates and water quality.
i like macros and sea fans for a natural looking tank with good hitching posts .

There are links at the bottom of "My Thoughts on Seahorse Keeping" written by experienced seahorse keepers that provide a lot of information for the seahorse keeper wannabe.
One link has a chart to advise the recommended tank sizes for seahorses, but for standard sized, it's mostly 29/30g for the first pair and an extra 15g for each additional pair.

What can be put ine the tank with them? Like plants and cuc?

in my opinion dont get any fish for 6 months just to get comfortable with keeping seahorses first.

Try to get the biggest tank for them within reason. I keep mine in a 40B. They move around A LOT and use every bit of tank space. I caught my pipefish and horses wild in the bay, so I don't know if you could get away a smaller tank for tank raised or not. I know people say to have very low flow with these guys, but I use (2) 500gph powerheads plus 200+gph return pump and they do great. They love live rock as well. Just be ready for tube feeding several times a day as they are not fast enough to catch much, especially pipefish, which starve more often than not.
