Thinking about trying an LTA

Well just like the title states, my tank is just about to be 6 months old and I'd like to put in a Purple LTA to let it get settled before introducing Clowns. My parameters have been testing out all 0's for a little while now, which I was quite surprised by. My sand bed is about 3 inches deep but I'll make it deeper locally for it if it stays put. Only thing is I have a little bit of a GHA and what seemed like cyano outbreak, still have a little GHA and the cyano blanketed my sandbed but seems to have cleared off the bed now and most of it is dying on the rocks. I am running GFO 24/7 and about to throw in some Carbon.

Can anyone give me some ideas where to get one besides liveaquaria or the LFS since my LFS is a pain to deal with sometimes and say they can't order one for me. I'd like to have a few more options. Also can anyone give me a few tips as best way to place them? I have been searched a whole lot, but I'd like to get some ideas from the veterans here. Thanks in advanced.

Forgot to add, my tank has barely any bioload. All I have in it as of now is a few snails and 2 skunk cleaner shrimp. The skimmer isn't pulling as much skimmate as it used to.

What size tank? What kind of lighting?

Smart move to get the anemone first and give it time to settle in. Otherwise clowns tend to irritate them while they are trying to find a good spot.

Just dig a hole next to a rock where you would like it to startout. Hold the sand back and put the foot in the hole. Then push the sand gently around the foot. If its healthy it should grab a hold of the tank bottom or the bottom of the rock. Keep in mind that it will move around until it finds where it wants to stay.

I have a 75G with about a 20G sump. I have 6x54W T5 but i'll be switching over to dimmable LED's in a few months that I am currently building. Thanks for the tip! Kinda what I was thinking about doing. Yeah I hear they can float around until they get settled so I'll keep the powerheads down and cover the intakes with foam covers.

Be careful when you switch lighting too. I lost my 5 year old 12 inch LTA to my closed loop intake when I switched from VHO to LED. Evidently the change in lighting caused him to jump and I wasnt prepared for it. He got too close to the intake and that was all she wrote.

Wow 5 years? That's horrible. Thanks for the heads up, I figured with it being dimmable I can start out easy on it then slowly bring them up. Anyone know where I can find Purple LTA to purchase online? I have been searching but can't seem to find anyone that sells them...

Not sure where you are in NJ but knock out aquatics in the poconos has one. Its small but priced reasonable.

Yes it does lt does look like a condy but i doubt very highly it is. I heard he is great to deal with and are quite happy with him. Couldnt hurt to call. I was thinking abojut looking at it for myself but i think my maroons would kill it. besides i already have a very large greet lta.

Does anyone else have any sites that they order off of that have Purple LTAs? Maybe even any shops in the Northen NJ area that would have them? It's proving impossible to find one. I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks Todd, was trying to see if anyone knew any other sites besides LA or even anything not too far from North Jersey but it seems like it'll be my only option.

When it comes to purchasing anemones, I would only buy online if it is WYSIWYG, or in person when I could see it -- need to check out the color and mouth.

I have purchased numerous anemones from DD -- including my current LTA -- and think they are the best around -- for online.

Thanks for the advice Todd, decided to pull the trigger and give it a shot. A little nervous since it'll be my first anemone and I'd hate to see such a beautiful creature perish, any advice on acclimation or placement? I have seen some of your anemones and you know alot about these things. I plan on temp acclimation, then dripping it for about 45-60 minutes before putting it in my tank. Figured I'd dig a little hole near the middle of the tank by a rock and place it in there.

Ive had plenty of luck ordering anemones over the internet except on DD. I won't order anemones from them anymore. Good company, but for some reason the anemones from them never last in my tank.
