Thinking of committing skimmercide ....

I have a skimmer whose make is unknown. It looks like a cross between an MRC and an Aqua C. I have about 300g total water volume. It is in sump. I had a Blue Line 70 hooked up with a gate valve as I have one beckett and room to add another one. So the bigger pump was if I decided to add the other beckett in. It was skimming fine before I transferred everything from my 65g into the 180. Now I cannot get it dialed in. Either the bubbles stay low in the bubble tower or they drain water out at an unbelievable rate. I do have the pump plugged into an emergency shut off. 3 weeks of frustration and I am either low on the bubble tower or kicking the emergency shut off on. I switched to a gen x 55 last night to see if a smaller pump would make a difference -- no luck. I have cleaned everything, I have twiddled with air on and off on starting up. I have adjusted the gate valve on the pump and on the skimmer. Please -- I am ready to throw this thing in the nearest dumpster .... skimmercide. Can anyone help me?????

Here's a link with pictures of the skimmer ...

The pictures shows no valve and the blue line -- now there is a gate valve and a gen x 55.

Well -- the red box is the same but the bubble tower and collection cup are different .... anyone else help? Could it be that I am beckett challenged?
