depending on you lighting choice. croceas prefer to be on rock not sand. so put some clams in your rock work.

My tank is bare bottom and the clam on the bottom did not work to well so I made a slot about a few inches up out of LR and set him in.

i was barebottom for about a year. had 6 clams on the bottom, no problems.

i got tired of it. it made it harder to stack rocks since you couldn't fine-tune how they sat on the bottom. i wanted a white bottom to help reflect light back up and make for a brighter looking tank. and my pH was dropping at night more than i liked, so i hoped that some aragonite would help a little (and it did).
