Thinking of Juv. Emperor and/or Blue Face Angels.

I recently had a juvenile 3 1/2 inch Blue Face Angel that was just starting to change into its adult colours. Unfortunately, a couple of days after being in the display tank, my Powder Brown got a pretty severe case of some bacteria that ate away its fins and died quite immediately. Unfortunately, it must have passed this bacteria onto the BFA and so I lost it the next day. It seemed to attack it very quickly.

But in that short time, it quickly became my favourite fish and one that I must try again. Before I picked up the BFA, I always wanted an Emperor.

So here's my question: If I eventually want to have both of these beautiful angels, should I get them both at the same time, or one first and the other later? If one first, which would be best to get first?

Notes: I will be getting juveniles (about 2"). Upgrading is a good possibility but not for at least another year or so.

I would add them at the same time, and look to upgrade in a year or two for how large these angels can get.

if these are going in your 180. i have seen it plenty of times. with success. I would add them at the same time. So one doesnt already have his terriotory before you add the other.

Thanks.

If I can't get both of them on the same day, is it ok to keep one of them in my refugium with macro algae in it? Would they get stuck in the macro? The Refugium is about 15 gallons, half filled with macro. Would the angel deplete my pod population in there?

And if I can't get them around the same time, is there one that I should get before the other?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I would add them when you can get good, quality specimins that eat well. I would not worry about order, rather general health.

If they are both agressively fighting for food, and not shy, then you should be fine.

Is there a minimum recommended size for juveniles? Would a 2 inch juvenile be a lot more risky compared to a 3 or 4 inch juvenile?
