Thinking of removing my closed loop

I have a Sequence Dart pushing an OM 4 way, but I also have 2 MP40s (controlled by my APEX) on the tank. I think I would rather add a 3rd MP40 and get rid of my closed loop.
Or should I keep it to have more chaotic flow patterns

What do you guys think?

I removed mine and went with two MP60’s. I love the flow I get from my Vortechs and I am no longer a fan of a closed loop.

My opinion here is the MP40 will be one more thing to clean & maintain due to the coraline.

I'd keep it. I think the CLS & MP40 is a excellent combo

I removed my closed loop and replaced with tunze pumps. just as the other reply says, I am not a fan of closed loop anymore.

I agree, you are going to want more than 3 MP40s on a 340g tank. I'd move up to MP60s or run at least 4 mp40s. It's all about the $$ you want to spend now. One think to consider is that the vortechs will draw considerably less power than your closed loop. Will that make up for the cost? Probably not any time soon, but it's worth considering.

i second the vortecs over the closed loop... the flow spread more than makes up for it... but as previously stated, you have look at cost and what you are willing to spend, and make an economically educated decision on what works for you. GL friend

I'm not such a fan of CL's anymore, however I think you will need much more than 3 mp40's if you do remove it.
I have 2xmp40's and 2xmp20's on my 150g, and a modified tunze 6025 on top of that.
Flow amount will also depend on what you plan to keep of course.

Sell your dart and 2xMp40s and get 2 mp60s. A singe MP60 will double the flow of your dart (probably triple it considering head losses with the ocean's motion). Over the period of a year you'll save a bit in electricity too.
