anyone have any t5 light experiance??? i'm thinking of replacing my light bulbs and wasn't sure what kind of lights i should get. meaning brand and wattages... anyone with any info... help me \1;)

I have the IC ballast and 48inch fixtures.

You can run 4 of pretty much anything there is in regards to flourescence with that IC ballast. The bigger the better, but just in my opinion. Not to fond of the idea of overdriving the bulbs. Puts a variable on the life and spectrum of the bulb.

An 85 watter is a 5 foot lamp.

Also an IC ballast isnt for varying lamp use its for varying wattages. (i.e when youre not sure if you have 120v or 277v) Unless of course "IC" is a brand and I am completely oblivious (which happens with some frequency)

Incidentally the T5 VHO is coming somewhat soon. I dont know if Philips is going to put a patent on it, but considering it doesnt have anything to do with mercury content and isnt some technological breakthrough, I would doubt that they will. It probably wont hit market till next year though.

IC is hobbyists abbreviation for Ice Cap ballasts, and it does have the ability to fire a wide range of various flourescent bulbs out NO,HO, and VHO. Although with T5 bulbs it does overdrive them quite significantly turning a 39w 36" to roughly 60w, a 54w to a an overdriven 80w and so on. But again, you put a variable on the bulb spectrum and life that hasnt been documented nor researched very much IMO.
