Also an IC ballast isnt for varying lamp use its for varying wattages. (i.e when youre not sure if you have 120v or 277v) Unless of course "IC" is a brand and I am completely oblivious (which happens with some frequency)
Incidentally the T5 VHO is coming somewhat soon. I dont know if Philips is going to put a patent on it, but considering it doesnt have anything to do with mercury content and isnt some technological breakthrough, I would doubt that they will. It probably wont hit market till next year though.
