Some time ago I noticed a small tube-like thing on my montipora. It never grew or moved - so I ignored it.

Ooops this thing grew and something is moving at the end.

Could it be a Vermetid? Please help me ID it and let me know what to do with it.

Vermetid snail would be my guess as well.

If you have any epoxy handy you could knead up a small ball and seal the tube shut.

Aren't vermetids the little spiral tubes that cast a web for feeding?

I have the same thing as the OP on the base of a torch. It has grown in different directions, definitely not a single tube. Doesn't seem to bother the coral, and doesn't emit the food catching "web" like typical vermetids.

Are there different vermetids types?

Thanks Al!

I guess it is a vermetid, just different species then the typical red swirled tube. But of course I have those ones too.
