Like many countries, ours included, one can be unemployed and still have money.

I have a few Indonesian friends and the consensus is there are the rich and the poor with no middle class. The rich ones can afford to not have a job/unemployed but still live very well.

True, but he did say his budget is very limited.

I would agree with Raddogz that this guy probably have money. There is a car in his garage, internet access to be on RC and a camera to take picture of his tank. He also mentioned his dad had a big tank.

There are people who says they have no job or have a very tight budget. Next thing you know, they are buying a big ticket item or going on an extended vacation. I have a friend in Asia who told me once that he was barely above the poverty line. Next time I see him, he has 2 Range Rover and was collecting expensive watches. By the way, he's unemployed.

lol.. i had 4 tangs in a 60 before i knew any better... the LFS told me it was ok so long as i did water changes... so i did.. 10g a week.. lol.. I am just glad that he found RC and can now better his tank..

If that is the case, he needs to splurge a little and get a tank with fewer cracks. :)

All I'm saying is he probably got money but maybe is too cheap to spend it.

This could be it too.

True.

A tank that is cracked like that can become a safety hazard, especially on a concrete floor.

he got a car in the garage.... the garage.....how many people can say that in Indonesian, so the guy has money, or he has a sugar mama......

Or he's a young kid who's parents don't give him much money :)

I don't even think he's even Indonesian or live in Indonesia. His english seems to be conveniently wrong once in a while. The only thing believable in the thread are his pictures.

Yes, I think people have mis-construed what I had written and took it as gospel.

The point that was being made was you can be unemployed and still have money and be thrifty, despite what country you are from.

This thread has gone askew.

I agreed, Eileen. I can see that there are gaps between cultures and methology in this hobby, and some aspects of our lives from two different worlds.
I am compelled to tell two stories that happened to me personally.

I have a natural lava rock tide pool that when tide received, some larger fish get trapped. But normally, there were just three or four different groups of tangs and other smaller fish live there. I feed them from time to times.

One day I saw this very large, over 12" naso that was trapped in the three foot tide pool. I have not seen one that big in such shallow water. I tried to feed it and I showed mine maintenance guy the fish.

I went back to see the fish after lunch, before the tide returns and the fish was gone! I ask the maintenance guy and he told me that " it was good eating for lunch".

I was angry but realized that in his world, ocean is the sources of food supply. Eating a naso(mine pet) and having blue carpet anemone salad(in a different incident) is part of their lives.

Man made products had to be brought in and supplies are limited and unpredictable in the vast Pacific Islands. Mine Dad is the same way and it is hard for me to understand him some times. It must be much harder for others from a different parts of world to empathize/agree with some things in their lives.

Just mine experiences:)

Dudes, this "indonesian" guy is playing a prank on all of us. Read between the lines. He is an experienced reefer, and he is just playing a joke on us. No inexperienced reefer will have that much detailed knowledge about cycling, high tech equipments, disease, etc...and conveniently play dumb. He played a good April Fool prank on all of us.
