This guy needs a clue!

That's interesting, but you gotta look at his/her location. The darn guy is in Indonesia, these fishes and corals are collected right out of his back yard and he's using the water directly from that same ocean. 20g water change weekly. Ghetto equipment, yes. But, consistant water changes with natural water might work.

It sounds to me like he's doing better then most of you guys for aa lot less money. Can't beat contant water changes directly from the ocean (assuming its not polluted like the waters off the bay). After reading through the entire thread, he actually looks like he's doing pretty good. Lets not hate on someone just for being a little different. Theres more then one way to keep a reef tank.

Yeah.. like keeping the naso tang in a 50G tank :D
shoot for $2 I'd keep one in a nano!

I knew a guy who was from the Phillippines, he had a place right next to the water, and he'd do all the water changes, I think at one time he contemplating running a pump to the ocean right to his tank just to do continuous water changes. He dove and collected his own fish and corals, but the one thing he did is if he did something "bad" (you mean I can't have this shark in a 30 gallon tank?) he tried to rectify by putting it back.

Who hasn't put ANY tang in a tank less than 50g? Not many can say I, that's not the point. My problem was that he starts out "I want to do this as cheap as possible", and he's unemployed, to me it seems that priorities are in order for him.

Although I wonder what $2 buys in Indonesia? Maybe $2 is the equivalent of $50 here? In which case that "$2" tang isn't that cheap.

Like many countries, ours included, one can be unemployed and still have money.

I have a few Indonesian friends and the consensus is there are the rich and the poor with no middle class. The rich ones can afford to not have a job/unemployed but still live very well.
