sabodish, kingfisher62,
I very much appreciate your concern. I have to admit that I am not the most vigilant aquarist. The knowledge and experience exists, but my aquarium honestly gets neglected more often than not. I do need to get more religious about water changes, chemistry, dosing, etc...The acan did start out as a much puffier version of itself. The TONS of new heads and encrustation have led me to believe that everything is OK. I don't trust my test kits (Ca&Mg), and my KH does tend to swing. What would be the reason for that???low Mg???
The blooms that have been noted are in part a result of me removing the vast majority of my clean up crew. I took nearly all of my hermits out in hopes of protecting the berghias ( which are working diligently). NH3/4, NO2, NO3, PO4 all test undetectable. I feed 3-4 times weekly broadcasting a couple of teaspoons phyto, oyster feast (or rotifers), and a cube of brine or cyclopeeze.
Thoughts?
