heres a pic of the tank its self...like i said its not much to look at yet but i hope with time it will turn into a nice looking tank...so far we have a blue hippo, a sail fin, 2 clowns, a purple fire fish, 1 blue charomi (spelling?) and a zebra moray eel...most of these will be transfured to our 92 gallon once its up and running

^looking nice!! And keep up the good work. Lots of patience, reading, researching, and asking us questions will help out a lot. Welcome to STARS! I hope to meet you at the next meeting. Thanks!!!!

sweet, thanks guys, and yeah that 92 will be sweet. you actually have done research and know enough to do research, plus your freshwater background your really less of a newb than you think. look forward to the progress build and meetings.

Looks good. :)

I wasn't at the meeting which is probably where you explained all of your equipment but I'll ask anyway.

What kind of lighting are you using? filtration ( although I think i see a HOB filter on there)? Any dosing?

Right now all the filtration is hang on the back....we have an aquaclear 70 along with a cpr backpack skimmer...the light is a 400W metal halide...im not dosing anything...once we get our 92 gallon up and running everything will be in sump

what the heck is a sump ???? haha

Oh man! Here we go! Lol.

If your new tank isn't Reef ready and you need it drilled I suggest getting with Steffen. Does an awesome job at drilling and installing an overflow box.

i am glad to see the branching hammer opening up and doing well. it was nice to meet you and your wife yesterday.

if you need any help just ask.

the new tank (92 gallon corner bow front) is drilled with an overflow from the factory we just need a sump and return pump so we can start the water cycle...ive got steffen working on getting the glass together to build a sump...due to the odd footprint of the corner bow front im having a hard time finding a pre built sump that will fit so we're gunna have to go with a custom build...steffen has plans for an "L" shaped sump that will fit in the corner and still allow for a little storage room in the front of the stand. once its a few months mature we will start moving our live stock over to the new tank...we may keep the 55 as a hospital tank but we were kind of thinking of selling it to help fund the new tank...it all depends on the budget i guess...thanks for the warm welcome guys im sure we will have a bunch of questions along the way...we look forward to the next meeting and the chance to put more names with faces

update...after a couple new pieces of rock and some careful stacking the tank looks a ton better and there are a bunch of new hiding places for the fish and more shelves to put coral on

that sweet middle piece needs to be level on top, but yes it does look better. but trust me your not done rearranging rock. you move it again soon. haha.

i couldnt get that piece to sit level...im happy with it for now...i think it will stay like this untill were ready to move everything over to the 92 gallon

thanks...the 92 should be getting started soon...i should have the sump in a week or two and the skimmer and return pump are on standby...to tell ya the truth i cant wait to see it with water in it...lol...its been sitting here in the corner collecting dust for the last month...it drives me nuts every time i look at it...im sure the cycling process is going to make me even more crazy knowing that i have to wait a few months before i can put anything besides sand and rock in it lol

if you use everything in the 55 by that time, you wont have to cycle the tank again for the 92. it will be a transfer.

won't sturring up all the sand cause an amonia spike and another mini cycle that could kill everything?
