It ate my new Frogspawn and I want to make sure it isn't a camelback. Anyone that could positively ID please help. Thanks.

It's a lystmata wundrmani or californica ,probably the former. It is not a Rhyndhocinetes spp. ,aka camel back.

Guten tag Gerrrit.

your English is fine ;much better than my German.

I think wundermanni is a complex which includes boggessi and others from the Western Atlantic. The species was reclassified in 2006 with several new species named based on color patterns that are considered part of the complex. The original wundermanni is considered lost ,I believe. Commonly , in the hobby they are refferred to as wundermanni.

The camel back shrimp are uniformly not reef safe but lystmata wundermani of various species also attack corals ,ime, just not as much.

Hey Tom,
here is a nice article over the Lysmata wurdemanni complex with pics (page 32 in this article).

Yes, the most pepermint shrimps are called as wundermanni in our hobby, but the most of them are L. boggessi (at least in Germany, they are relatively easy to breed).

Have a nice day

Thank you for the link Gerrit.

I do breed a few in sections of tanks, set up to that allow the larvae to move into tanks with juvenile seahorses(erectus) for some live food.

By the way, my wife and I lived in West Berlin and Garmisch- Partenkirchen for a little over 2 years in the late 1960s and enjoyed our time in what was then West Germany.
