This is what I call "pod rocks"

Having 1 year of experience in this hobby and knowing what I know. Having pourous rock is one of the most important things if you are going to set up a reef. Not only will have have lots of "real estate" for amphipods, mysis, micro stars and the scavangers that help keep your sand bed clean. But more rock surface area provides even more bio filtration. I expect to see twice as many pods at night with rocks like this. This is the pic Capt. Jer shared with me before he shipped. It's now cooking in a tub and looks better in person. Just thought I'd share.

I like to imagine each one of those tiny holes as a "condo" for a different family of pods.

That's realistically what it is, really.
