If you live in Brandon and haven't checked out AquaStar in a while you should swing by and give them another look. They're under new ownership and are starting to really do things right. The fish look healthier than they used to. The selection of fish is much better. The selection and health of the corals is much, much, MUCH better. The store's much cleaner too. Last time I was in there one of the guys working there told me that if there's something I want, just let him know and they'll see about getting it next time they order. All in all a much improved experience there over the past couple of months. I'm sure FAOIS and Coral Corral, etc. are still better stores all around, but for those of us on this side of Tampa, AquaStar is starting to become a pretty decent local option.

That sounds good man. I stopped here once on my way home about 6 months ago to buy some dry rock and I was not impressed at all, but I will give them a second look.

This is really good to hear! I drive by Aquastar on my way home from work every day. I was not impressed with them and have not been there in quite a while. I will have to stop in and see how the new management is doing! Thanks for posting this information!

price is a little on the expensive side though. generally I found it about 20% more then im enjoying at coral and fin

They actually are under new ownership, not management. Their new name is The Aquarium and Fish Store. It's much nicer then before, cleaner store, new lights over coral, and they improved their cichlid system and put up a FW plant system.
