Thoughts on 150 watt DE reflectors

I am wondering the same thing, except I am wanting the 250's. I want to do a 250 HQI setup but am stuck. I know the RO III's seem really nice, but they are pricey.

They do not look very refined... I would imagine that some of the :name brand stuff is more efficient. I suppose without testing though...

Im using this particular reflector over a 20L and im getting good coverage, i wouldnt be able to say if this is a good or bad reflector though since i have never owned a different type. I previously ran a tek t5 setup over the same tank. As far as i can tell it does the job for what i want, i only get minor shading on the edges of my tank which is 30" long.

Thanks for the feedback folks.

Bean - got any links for name brand reflectors?

btw these are for a canopy retro so I dont care about the outside near as much as I care about size and its effectiveness.

thanks for the input dohc97!

That lumenarc Stealth for $99 is prolly the best 150wattDE reflector you can buy.

Small pendants are okay, but they all share one common trait: they may have higher light values up at the top of the tank because the output is so concentrated, but this is also their downfall, because it makes for very poor distribution... so getting light to the corners can be impossible... but the other disadvantage is that less dispersion means less penetration into the water. My PFO mini-pendant will get readings over 2000 at 6" from the reflector, and my lumenarc pendant will only get about 1200-1500 maybe. Keep in mind that these are light levels waaay above what any coral can tolerate (some of the most light loving porites will go for 700, most corals are 400 at most), so the higher output of the PFO is of little use. But 18" under the water, the lumenarc will still have a PAR value of 200 all across the bottom, 250 in many spots, and 280 in the middle. The PFO can barely keep the center at 220, and the corners of the tank are under 100.
