Thoughts on Angels/Coral Beauty with corals

My wife wants an Dwarf Angel or Coral Beauty but I am worried about them with corals and what I want to do down the road. I am just getting into corals right now and only have a Hammer and some Rics at this point. I am looking at getting an open brain tonight and maybe some type of leather as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

From what I've read allot of the dwarf angels (coral beauty, pygmy angel, flame angel, etc) tend to be coral safe but it varies by individual. Worst case you get a bad one, find someone on here who'll take him off your hands and you may or may not be out 40$ right?

I'm planning on getting a pygmy angel for my tank next to I rearrange the rock work.

Dwarf angels are hit or miss like other angels but some centropyge are less likely to pick than others.
Lemonpeels tend to be the worst, followed by flames, bicolor, goldens and keyhole's. Potters, Fishers, resplendants, coral beauty's, flamebacks, and pygmy Angels are hit or miss but they will generally pick at Zoa's, Clams, Xenia, and fleshy LPS like open brains. I have never had any issues with SPS.

I've had a pygmy angel (c. argi) for about 2 months now. The tank has xenia, nepthia, zoas, button's, GSP, a few shrooms and a montipora frag that was given to me. Other than being EXTREMELY territorial he has not nipped at any coral in the tank. I make sure to feed him 2-3 times daily and leave some clipped nori up. I tried to introduce a dotty to the tank, but the pygmy would not have it.... think i need to try a bigger fish nest that can fend off this bully.

I agree with all the above posts and thought I'd throw in a first hand report.

Again thanks all. Any other good recomendation on a colorful fish or two that will not pick on the corals at all. I would hate to get something and have my kids fall love with it and then have to yank it out of the tank.

Hit or miss situation,I have had in the past a flame, coral and a pygmy in the same tank (LPS/Zoos dominated) with no harm. My 2 cents.
Good Luck

There are some pretty, reef safe wrasses, I have a sixline and love it, how about a pair of perculas? I had a coral beauty, and it fought like crazy with my mated pair of clowns, had to remove, never witnessed it nipping corals though. Google "reef safe fish", and I am sure you will find many sites to help make some decisions. Good luck and keep us posted....

I have thought about a pair of Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasses that Marine Warehouse has in stock right now. How do pairs of Wrasses get along? In a tank with a pair of Percs?

I had the same wrasse with mated pair of false percs, no problems at all. If you go w/ those wrasses though, make sure you have the top of your tank covered, as those guys like to jump... Good luck...

Thanks. My tank is covered so I am all good. I am just wondering how a pair of them will do in my tank.
