thoughts on dwarf angels

I have a 90 gallon with a pair of clowns, a watchman gobbie, two chromis, and a royal Gamma. (also a coral bandit shrimp, a cleaner shrimp and the normal assortment of snails, sifter star fish & crabs.

Will it be too much to add a dwarf angel? I do have some soft corals, and I know they can sometimes "nip"

What are your thoughts on a coral beauty or a flame angel? Are either of these more compatable or easier to keep? I would love to hear about your experiences keeping either of them

Hit or miss with the Centropyges. My Coral Beauty has never nipped on anything, and the Flame Angel I traded away was also a model citizen. But it's pretty much 50/50. You may attempt to prevent altogether or minimize 'nipping' by making sure your angels are properly fed. They will graze on live rock nevertheless.

According to every single survey I've seen, its more like 80safe/20trouble

IMO it's worth the risk. I have a flame, a CB and a white tail pygmy in my 65g and, so far, all are behaving. I did have to move an open brain out of the tank because they were picking at it, but they leave my other LPS and softies alone. If it's a choice between the two, I'd go with a flame -- there's no substitute for that flash of red/orange in a reef, they're just breathtaking :)

I agree, and I hope you'll also agree that the surveys only really provide for perhaps not even a 20 percent of aquarists that are actually doing the surveys.

I have a flame and a potters in a 125 with a pair of clowns, yellow tang, 5 chromis, and bunch of shrimp. The flame nips at the corals sometimes but I have enough mature corals that it does not bother me too much. I have never seen the potters nip at a coral. But like you said, its always a gamble with angel's and corals.
