Thoughts on Removable Blue Back Panel 240 gal display

I'm in the final stages of ordering my display tank and I'd like to get some input on adding a removable blue acrylic panel to the back panel of the tank. I've been told that condensation between the panels can become an issue. Does anyone have experience with this? I know vinyl is an alternative, but I really want the flexibility of being able to remove the panel in order to view the rear of the tank since this will be an in wall setup and therefore only viewable from the front panel in the living space. The tank will be housed within an equipment room where I can easily view it from the top and rear. The overflow will be on one end of the tank. The other end of the tank will be adjacent to a wall so not easily viewable.

I think this is an excellent idea! I left the back of my tank open and am very glad I did. While I don't have a back panel, I find I'm not the least bit distracted by being able to see straight through into the fish room.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm actually planning to leave the panel on except when I'm in the equipment room working on the tank. In that case, it would be very convenient to be able to see the back side of the tank. An acrylic panel can easily be removed and yet still provide a nice background when viewing from the living space.

If I had not gone with external overflows, I would have gone with an removable black or blue panel. It affords the best of both worlds.

I use a black piece of acrylic held on with velcro. It has been up and running since Oct 07. Never had any problems with condensation.

wmilas - Your tank is massive and can't wait to see it setup. That stand would probably hold a loaded 747.
