thousands of snails... help id

the title says it all. these snails come out when it is dark and there is tons of 'em

I had the same thing. I was told it is a type of certh snail.

They look like ceriths, do they have a snorkel like a welk?

i dont know they are to small to tell but i now too believe they are ceriths. ceriths are good for your tank right? cause if not i will have to start doing some anahilating:uzi: :blown: :fun2:

Yup, they are ceriths. I don't know how many is too many in a reef tank, but they may be that concentrated in the wild. I suppose the worst that can happen is that they will wipe out all your edible algae and starve?

I have a healthy population in my reef tank which hitchhiked on my live rock from fiji, they are good to have in my opinion.

It looks like either a type of Cerith or a False Cerith. Some types like to explore the substrate.

Ceriths are good to have IMO. I would keep them around.
