Thread Diary of my 30 cube SPS dominated in wall tank

Can I just drill a hole in the top of one of the 90 degrees? I dont want to replumb it.... I thought you meant a T on the inside of the overflow....

nope sorry, but that won't work, water will leak through there, you need The T and a piece of tube to extend high to avoid the leak,

thats why planning is important ;)

THEPHISHGUY,

you can try, but I don't recomend it,

I would just cut off the piece with 45'&90' and replace with a T and cap and worry about the something else ;)

So I took your advise and replumbed this morning. I added the airline tubing from a maxijet with the venturi screw. Well anyway, it did nothing......until I took the piece of tubing out. Now it is ABSOLUTLY PERFECT with just the hole in the cap. I am so excited to have the mag 9 fully opened up. THANKS A LOT... P.S. I got the 400 watt 14 k and 2 36watt pc actinic up and running. The color is SICKO!!!!!!!!!! G-d I am so happy, with everthing now.

ONE LAST QUESTION. When I was setting up the phosphate reactor, so media spilled into the sump. Do I need to worry about it? Should I siphon as much as I can out or just leave it in????

thats awesome, i could only dream of having a tank at work, that and my desk sits against a meeting room so they probably wouldn't like seeing the equipment...

Im assuming you don't have to pay any out of pocket electricity expenses?

take it out

Take what out? Do you mean the tubing? Cause I already did.... Thanks for the advise though...I really appreciate all the help guys!!! Dave

THEPHISHGUY,

when you can take the media out of the bottom of the sump, don't just leave it there, when you get a chance

about the tubing, something was done incorrectly, most likely clog the line, so no air was getting

here is a good pic showing a property set one, with just a valve, the principal won't change if a small hose, etc. is use

oh, and by the way this pic also shows a properly set overflow box and top to keep things nice and clean

Some Updated Pics

I had no intention of stocking the tank so quickly, but my rock had been curing for 5 weeks, my levels were perfect and a local reefer was breaking down his tank and sold me all the coral. He could not be a nicer guy and I could not pass up the deal. Just the Purple M. Cap is worth WAY WAY more then what i paid for EVERYTHING!!! He really is an awesome reefer!!!! Thank Moe!!

Enjoy the pics... THEPHISHGUY

WOW...that's a ton of rock. How do you plan to keep the bottom clean? I have a 30cube in my collection, and I must have less than half the rock you have. I have to leave room for corals to grow!

Anyways, still looks good!

I have a mag 9 return going to a sea swirl. I have a quiet one 6000 @ 1600GPH Closed Loop going to a return in the top right corner and coming out of the bottom right corner of the side glass. The bottom return goes to a y tube locline. The only part of the tank that was in anyway stagnant was the bottom right corner before where the locline comes out. So, I have a maxi 1200 pointing straight down into that corner. With 90 times turnover, there really is no place for detritus to collect at all. I like the packed tank look. I know a lot of others do not. I plan to do A LOT of pruning.....!!!!

Good deal, as long as you like the way it looks. My tank is way less crowded but I've packed it with around 17 frags. Talk about pruining! Make sure to update when stuff is growing in :)
