Who else has a tank where this keeps happening? Mine did when I was gone for the weekend, what a mess.

It used to be interesting, now it's moved to biohazard/threat to the system level. Who else is in this boat?

Have you tried changing your lighting schedule? That might help throw off their biological clocks and possibly keep them from spawning.

I have not run into this "problem" before.

i think i may have this problem. Once in a while my skimmer just explodes with skim mate out of nowhere. My feeding schedule is consistent and i rarely put anything other than food into the tank yet this happens about once a month. this leads me to believe that my corals are the source that feeds my skimmer. Does this happen to you?

It does cause pollution, the spawning lasts for hours. It's like someopne dumping food into your tank all night. This is the 2nd event. Each one larger and messier than the previous. I log the dates and they run on exactly 6 month intervals. They fill the sump with white foam and an oil slick, the skimmate turns white and the bubbles have such a strength it lifts the lid off the skimmer. It forms like a white glue layer on everything. The smell is extremely strong oceany smell.

The event in itself is harmless, buit the resulting filth in my otherwise clean tank has both times started a brown jelly infection on one coral last time, and 2 this time. So with water changes, strategic fragging and tons of ozone I have not lost anything yet.

I had a pocillipora do this. But no acros.

Tank turned milky. Montis all bleached as well as about half my acros. Skimmer went bonkers for two days. Took about a month for everything to settle down and color back up.

Personally, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if it never happened again!

In my tank, it happened the evening of a full moon in August.
