Thumbs up for wavebox

Where did you get your wavebox from? Or better yet, where can I get one at? Thanks for the new vids!

most likely a tunze, based on his streams and the magnet holder used to hold up the wave box. Most all online vendors sell them. Marine Depot, an RC sponsor vendor, sells them. Stop into the Tunze forum here in RC if you have any technical questions about their waveboxes :)

clkwrk,

I had heard that wave boxes help eliminate dead spots behind rocks, etc. Do you feel that your does just that ? IE: Gets water motion back into the nooks and crannies of your rockwork and corals ?

Yes without a doubt

Thanks

I got lucky and scored mine used for 225 and its less than 6months old.........Other than that anyplace that carries Tunze can get it .

so how do you think the fish are holding up to the motion? I noticed them all out and swimiing in it but are you having any of your fish hiding out? or bothered by it?

None of them seemed bothered one bit ....The time they would maybe would be while they sleep and the box has the photo cell so they can sleep in piece without being bashing against rocks.

The motion is incredible but I am too scared to get one myself. It gets me nervous, afraid my tank is going to bust at the seams.

I may just have to get one now after seeing these videos.

clkwrk,

Cool, it is good to see that you can add streams to the wavebox and not have it disrupt the wave motion across the tank. How are you controlling all your pumps though? Tunze multicontroller?

I am planning on replacing my 55g with a 90g this summer, so the wavebox with a stream hooked into a controller seems to be the best bet.

However if I could control the box with a single controller (and save money) and maybe get a y adapter later to control an additional stream, that would be the best.

Yeah I was thinking all the streams would keep it from working but not at all.

I am contolling 2x6200 and 2x6100's via the 7095 multi and the other 6100 by a single contoller and the wave box has its own wavebox contoller.

Hey it is looking good! I would be nervous about the floor or the tank giving way, even though I have the lolly columns. You still in the same place? No noises from the floor I hope? I have thought about the wave box but just can't bring myself to do it. Besides I am stil waiting on the 6100s that you talked me into. LOL

Hey Chris thanks . The tank is doing very well . I am still in the same place and sofar so good with the floor. I think I am pretty safe with a large steel I beam dirrectly center under the tank runnng the length of the tank pLus that beam has a support every 3 foot.

You'll love the 6100's and later when you can get the magnet holders those will make life better.

When I had Streams running with my waveboxes I would get a 3/4" wave at the tank ends. Not too bad. I tried it with only the waveboxes running and the waves increased to 3"! I think other flow clearly decreases the effect of the waveboxes, but even with "disrupting" flow they can give good wave action.

size of tank can make a difference.

I have the same wave with or with out other pumps running .

I've had a wavebox on order for a few weeks now. I'm curious did you spend much time tuning it to your tank? Other videos I have seen made it look like much more of a wave/flow. I've seen a lot of threads with people mentioning it took awhile to tune it to the sweet spot for their tank.
