Tide pool anyone?

I've been kicking around the idea of a "tide pool" addition for quite some time now. Since my 180 gal. sps tank is "in wall" in the basement....and since I haven't progressed very far on the room construction aside from getting the tank up and running, I could do this pretty easily. I've got one of those odd shaped black outdoor ponds that I think would serve the purpose perfectly.

I was thinking that I could strategically place the pond near the corner of the room beneath and in front of the tank. I could hide and support the pond with landscaping blocks. I'd prefer to line the pond with LR...so as not to see the liner, bit I think that might get a bit pricey, but a nice LR outcropping from the wall side, a shallow sand bed, and lighting on downrods...not enough for corals, but enough for viewing. I'd plumb the whole thing to act as a second sump. A few interesting fishes, some inverts and there you have it.....a tide pool.....any thoughts or ideas?

You could tryto track down some limestone base rock as the lining of the tank. It would turn into live rock soon enough a small ammount of LR will seed it well.

you could set up a very large surge to make it realistic for not much money. Would look just like a tide pool then.
