Tiger Tail Cucumber hiding?

We have a tiger tail cuc that just hides under this one peice of live rock. He got caught in a power head and lost about a third of his body a few weeks ago. We thought he would die bought was told that they regenerate.?. He is alive under there he just doesn't ever come out. Our sand bed is about 3" deep. Is this normal?

I have been missing my cuc for about 2 weeks now. Mine didn't get caught in a powerhead, but has been in hiding for a while. If the conditions are right they do regenerate.

Mine is always hiding under the same rock. Sometimes it moves to different ones and the only time I see it is at night.
