Time frame for lowering SG

The salinity/SG in my FOWLR tank has gotten a little high (SG ~ 1.027) and I want to bring it down to around 1.025. I plan on doing this by slowly removing saltwater and replacing with fresh RO/DI. (probably a pitcher at a time) How long should i take to do this. The tank is 55 gal. and the only current residents are a damsel and a snowflake eel. I want to get the salinity/SG back down before I do a water change so I dont shock the fish.

Thanks

i would just do a 3 gallon water change, and then when you refill do strait ro/di water and put it on a slow trickle with airline tubing. the fish will be fine, and this is not too fast of a change for them.

i dont have any airline tubing at the house, and was wanting to do this tonight. would changing a few gallons (a pitcher at a time) over the span of a few hours be too much of a change? do i need to use something smaller than a pitcher?

just do it. you surely dont need to go to the hassle of airline tubing to lower your salinity a couple of points.....its raising it that can be dangerous.

I would take out a few pitchers now and replace tih fresh...measure and then just make your new water change water a little weaker to drop it any more you need to

I agree. My Sg will fluctuate a point or two either way every day and it doesn't bother anything. I have made as much as a 3 point change with no problems. Try bring Mg up from 1000 to 1250 without SG jumping around!
