Timer with dimmer for lights?

My hubby wants to put the lights for his aquarium on a timer with a dimmer so that it comes on slowly and goes off slowly simulating sunrise/sunset. I thought it would be easy to find such an animal; but it isn't.

Does anyone know if such a thing even exists? And where one would find one if it does?

His tank is a 150 freshwater...I just have a little 14 nano reef tank. I'm not sure how I was the one roped into looking for this device.

You would have to have a dimming ballast with a lighting controller
