Just bought a tinkeri butterfly. The butterfy has been in friends reef and are eating and are in good condition.
Im quarantaining everything that goes down in the reef but wondering if butterflies is more sensitives that other fish to copper? Im using cupramine in my quarantaining tank.

I have a Declivis Butterfly which is similar to your Tinkers. I treated it with cupramine for 30 days without any issues. The key is raising the level to 0.5 over a few days and not going any higher than 0.5......

I don't know why copper is still the go-to treatment for ich.
"Copper suppresses immune function and is highly stressful to fish. Copper is also toxic to fish, but to a lesser degree than with invertebrates. Administering a dose that is too high may kill the fish being treated. If the copper level is not high enough then the treatment will be ineffective. This necessitates testing the copper level twice a day and making adjustments as needed."

There are better - and faster - ways to rid your fish of ich: TTM alone or for reduced stress and increased reliability in combination with hyposalinity (see here: A New Variation Of The Transfer Method)
