Tinkers Butterfly in a Reef...

Well...I can tell you my pair of declivis would do fine with coral they hardly nip on my rocks. As for pairing,as mentioned my declivis paired quite easily, but since I put in the wrought iron, he has paired with the female declivis and has ousted the male...very interesting pair I must say.

I have an order in for a pair of tinkers or a pair of Mitratus (whichever comes first)

Hey Chris, Long time no talk!

That is really interesting that the Wrought would pair off w/ the female Declevis and be aggressive to the other. I thought they would all get along great with the Wrought being so shoal oriented in the wild...

I would like a wrought Iron, and again, im not sure my tank could support 2 large (eventually) Tinkers, plus a wrought...

Man, I dont know what I should do!!!

A man after my own heart. marginalis are superb as is declivis and mitratus despite the fact that the last two tolerate each other but don't like each other.

ha.

yes butterflies are gorgeous, and so are corals. but what's a reef without these beautiful creatures?

you can even go FULL coral tank with SPS, softies and even fleshy LPS like lobos and trachys if you stick to very safe butterflies like pyramids, chelmon, forcipiger and maybe prognathodes.

if you sacrifice some fleshier LPS like lobos, trachys, acans, then butterflies like fremblii, paucifasciatus, declivis, tinkeri, mitratus are all possible. you may even get away with keeping a few fleshy LPS and pray they don't nip it.

i rather sacrifice a few static corals and go for living, breathing, swimming art pieces that rival that of picasso anyday!

go for the Wrought iron

I know! Man, I just don't know what to do. I either want a pair of tinkeri or a wrought...wrough would be more expensive than a pair of tinkers, but the pair of tinkers need more space than a single wrought!!! Man!

Great video of your butterflys lemon. I think I like the tinkers better but if I could find 2 small ones that would be spectacular! I think they will stand out more than the wrought...

I have had a tinkers and have a declevis and mirtatus now. No problems.

Jeremy, I have always loved your tank and your choice of fish... so why did you get a declevis and not a tinkeri? Do you still have the declevis?

Oh and I saw a video you posted of your tank a while back and I was searching for it but couldn't find it...would you mind posting the link?

Well I had A Tinkeri last year, but sold him, as I got a line on a pair of declevis. Sadly I lost them in the Christmas Day massacre. However, I recently came upon a healthy adjusted, and by far the most personable fish I own, declevis. This fish is AWESOME. He backs down EVERYONE, including my clarion.

Heres a pic with the tink:

Man, your tank looks great Jeremy! You always have a great selection of fish. How big are the Butterfly's?

Also, what do you guys think of semilarvatus butterflys?

And have you ever thought of getting a bandit Jeremy?

I love Butterflies and angels, Like gasman I also tried keeping a reef safe fish tank for a short while but didn't make it for me or the corals, now I am slowly re-stocking here are some pictures I took last night, hope you like them.
