what are these, the purple looking strands, they are actually clear looking,
like grim reaper hand, fingers, that pop in and out of the tubes, 2 hitch hikers
in this case.

threat or safe?

thanks

It's some sort of a tube worm I think. I had one in the middle of a trumpet coral and for the longest time I thought it was a part of the corals anatomy.

lol, I thought it was part of the coral too

I have a feather duster but it does not constantly pop in and our like these
very tiny though

Not entirely sure what to be looking at. If it's popping in and out and 'scooping' at the water, yes, barnacle. I see what looks like small bristle stars as well.

you got some eagle eyes there if you can make out a star in my photo

I saw a star last night on the glass, asterina or brittle, I don't know which but
I tossed it out to be safe
