So any way after talking to this guy at work about how he and his room mates tried to make a fish tanks out of used liquer bottles i got inspired

its gonna have some neons in it or other small fish and i know its not a reef tank but why not, stay tuned.

its a small volume of water in a room that 70 degrees with air goin through it thats also 70. so im basically rellying on themperature equalization to heat it

I dunno...if your putting tropical fish in there like neons, I don't think 70 will cut it.

thats a good point, its still a work im progress mabye ill put so zebra danios int here, theyre temperate fish

not true, my betta is in a tank about the same size with no air stone, and minnows survive for months in small puddles. fish are pretty tough regardless of the salinity of the water they live in

I think there's something to be said of quality of life, but then again I just had a fillet of fish for lunch.

you could get away with a small live plant in place of the air stone and keep a small zebra danio in there. ive seen them in less volumes of water than that.

im not saying that its responsible, or that it will be even remotely satisfying, but it can be done.

How about putting some of those "sea monkeys" in there...or maybe a culture of rotifers would be good?

Well I hate to be a "Negative Nancy" but zebra danios are rather active fish. I had a school in my old 55 FW system and those suckas would swim the entire length of the tank..all day. I say go for some ghost shrimp. Put a single tall plastic plant in there...you'll have shrimp hanging around all over it. Brine shrimp would be good too.

i wouldnt debate you on that buddhakiss.

my thoughts were of a tank i saw many years ago that contained a tiny danio in a 4"x4"x4" acrylic cube with a little gravel and a small live plant. the cube was completely sealed except for a 1/8" diameter hole in the top that you used for feeding. to feed the fish you would dampen a wooden tooth pick and dip it into bag of finely crush flake food, then dip into the cube tank through the small hole. the fish belonged to the mother of one of my friends and i wouldnt doubt that it came from petco or the like? but that fish lived for a very long time in the tiny cube.

i like the ghost shrimp idea. you kinda have to have a small tank for those things or you never see them unless you have like a thousand of them!
