Tips for breeding erectus

My teacher is trying to breed erectus seahorses. He has had some success, but has only raised 2 individuals to adults out of six batches of eggs. I was wondering if you had any tips for breeding these. I dont know much about this, but feel free to ask me questions that might help you give me tips.

First off.... are they Northern Erectus (as would be found in the Chesapeake Bay) or Southern Erectus as would be found in Florida or the southern US? There is a huge difference in their fry.

Unfortunately you really need to know that for us to best help you. Where did you get them?

Northern Erectus have fry that do not hitch for quite a few weeks and do best when fed rotifers as their first foods, slowly graduating up to newly hatched 'small strain' baby brine shrimp. The most accepted way to raise them initially is using a kreisel/fishbowl nursery to keep the fry from floating to the surface.

Southern Erectus, on the other hand, hitch from birth and can eat newly hatched brine shrimp from birth.They can be raised in a standard 5 or 10 gal barebottom tank with sponge filters.

Once you find out what type of seahorses you actually have, we can give more detailed information on what might work best for you.

well the one newly hatched one we have does not hitch so I am thinking northern. Plus we are in Maryland.

bump, it is definately a northern. The on we have is about an inch and a half long. Seems to be doing well.

They are definately northern, the one baby we have is about an inch and a half long, at 3 weeks, is that the right size??

It is eating baby brine shrimp soaked in a supplement, IDK what kind
