tips for growing galaxia??

Hey all, I bought a frag of galaxia about 3 weeks ago and so far it looks like its starting to grow some new polyps around the edges. however, i've noticed over the last couple of days that some of the polyps in the middle of the piece have started to retract and look like they are not happy. What kind of flow and light do they prefer? I had them about 3/4 of the way up in the tank(29g) and they are under a tek t5 fixture. Should I move them to the sand to see how they do there? Anybody who's had success with these corals please tell me how you did it. Thanks

I have a large colony grown from a frag under T5. It spans from about 6" under the water surface down to about 14 inches under the surface (and still growing :)). They'll tolerate a wide range of flow and lighting, but be warned that the more flow is on or around it, it'll put out some nasty sweepers.

The retraction you're seeing is probably just a temporary thing. Something might have bothered it, as a precaution check out your water quality. They are hardy corals that can grow quickly especially if they are catching bits of food (or being fed) often. I would make sure you have it in a spot where you want it to encrust, and glue it down, preferebly not right next to other prized corals in your tank.
